Avas Food is a food delivery service (similar to Uber Eats) established in the Republic of Maldives. AvasFood primarily operates with its self-developed mobile application to receive and process orders. Currently the food delivery giant is available over both Android & iOS/Apple devices. Since the launch of its service (somewhere in 2019), Avas Food has reached a good audience in a very short time.
The user experience of the application differs based on users. I experienced inconvenience using it on my Android phone (sticky and sluggish with full screen), my partner found it comfortable on her Apple iPhone.
Registering with Avas Food
Registering to the application is a must prior to order, and it’s easy as activating your Viber or WhatsApp account. Below are the steps you must follow;
- Download the app (from Apple or Google store)
- Select “Register” and type in your phone number
- An OTP (one-time-password) will be sent to your phone
- Enter the OTP & you’re done
Order using Avas Food
- Choose the city (at present, Avas serves Male’ or Hulhumale’)
- Select a restaurant of your choice
- Choose your favorite dish (one or more)
- Enter & check if the delivery address is accurate
- Proceed to check-out (you are given with bank transfer or cash on delivery option)
Note: Customers have to type-in the delivery address (no. 6, below) & details when placing the first order. This will be the default address used for every delivery unless you opt for a change.
Snazzy Team
Snazzy Team’s Observation about Avas Food
- The average time taken per order is about an hour. So, better plan the order early rather than waiting for long, starving until it arrives
- The status of all orders does not change instantly other than initial acceptance of the order. Will be better if the statuses are updated regularly
- Habitually previous order(s) do not get cleared on the app post-delivery. This is causing a slight confusion when the customer places a new order (refer to the image below)
- As a result of the pandemic COVID-19 and the lockdown, Avas Food started their own grocery store with essentials (we haven’t found anything essential as yet, but let us know in the comments if you have benefitted)
Overall our experience with Avas Food is great. We suggest you try the app and let us know your thoughts in the comments section below. Till then happy food Hunting!
